Wimbledon 2022 LIVE: Cameron Norrie competes as Novak Djokovic begins championship defence
Follow all the action as Wimbledon begins, featuring matches from Andy Murray, Emma Raducanu, and Novak Djokovic.
When he defeated Matteo Berrettini at Wimbledon in 2017, Novak Djokovic tied Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the most men's grand slam championships (20); however, the Serbian has subsequently dropped two titles behind the Spaniard. Daniil Medvedev's inability to compete in this year's competition owing to the Russian player ban means that Novak Djokovic, the No. 1 seed, will begin play on Centre Court against Soonwoo Kwon.
After a spectacular run to the fourth round at last year's competition, it will next be Emma Raducanu's chance to make her Centre Court debut. The 2018 US Open winner, who has overcome any injury worries, will play world No. 46 Alison van Uytvanck in a challenging first round.
Murray's match with James Duckworth will bring the proceedings to a close. Last year, Murray advanced to the third round before being soundly upset by Denis Shapovalov, and he afterwards stated that he was doubting his future. However, the 35-year-old enters the tournament in good shape after making it all the way to the Stuttgart Open final and winning matches against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios during that run. Jodie Burrage of Great Britain helped a ballboy who became unwell as she was losing to Lesia Tsurenko in the first round in another incident. Before being later treated by paramedics and being transported in a wheelchair, the young man appeared shaky on his feet early in the second set of her 6-2, 6-3 defeat.
