After Station demolishes the casinos, there are high aspirations for the property.
The mayor of North Las Vegas hopes that when Red Rock Resorts' Station Casinos Inc. demolishes its two hotel casinos along Lake Mead Boulevard and Rancho Drive, the area will be used for commercial purposes rather than big-box retailers.
Although it doesn't seem likely, according to Station executives, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, who will be in office until the end of the year due to term limits, still harbours hopes that the property would one day house a new casino.
In reaction to Friday's statement that Station plans to permanently down Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho, destroy the buildings, and sell the site, Lee remarked "Somebody who buys that (land) may assume they're going to place big-box businesses in that location."
After the closure, these Nevada casinos never reopened. They will be destroyed soon.
After lying vacant for more than two years following the Silver State's pandemic-induced lockdown in 2020, a trio of Station Casinos serving locals in Southern Nevada are set for destruction.
Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho, and Texas Station in North Las Vegas will all permanently close, according to a statement released by the company's president Scott Kreeger on Friday. "While the decision was difficult, throughout our 46-year history, Station Casinos has adapted and grown with the Las Vegas valley," Kreeger said.
Following Governor Steve Sisolak's broad shutdown order in 2020, the three casinos were among the 20 Station enterprises that had their doors shut for over three months.
According to a statement made today by parent firm Red Rock Resorts, Station Casinos will demolish the three defunct casinos Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho, and Fiesta Henderson and sell the site.
Since all Nevada casinos were temporarily ordered down in March 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic, the properties have been closed. On June 4, 2020, casinos began to reopen once the state order was removed.
According to Scott Kreeger, president of Station Casinos, "Their sites have been an essential part of our business for many years, therefore it is not without pain that we announce these permanent closures."
"While the choice was challenging, Station Casinos has evolved and developed alongside the Las Vegas Valley over our 46-year existence," he stated.
By making the change, according to Kreeger, "the company will be able to continue reinvesting in our open properties and move more quickly to develop and deliver the next generation of Station Casino resorts to the residents and visitors of North Las Vegas, Henderson, and the rest of the Las Vegas Valley."
Debra March, the mayor of Henderson, said in a statement that although it was sorry to see the Fiesta Henderson go, new construction will be good for the city's economy.
The Fiesta Henderson property is in a terrific position, and March stated that they were looking forward to working with the land buyer to design a project that would be most valuable and advantageous to the community.
March praised Station for helping former workers of the Fiesta Henderson find work at other resorts. According to the corporation, a third of the staff members who worked at the three closed casinos are now employed by other Station establishments.
The Palace Station, Boulder Station, Sunset Station, Santa Fe Station, Red Rock Resort, and Green Valley Ranch Resort are all owned by Station.
